Restoration & Conservation
Beaulieu Abbey Cloisters, Beaulieu, Hampshire
We undertook this sensitive conservation project as principle contractor working with Columba Cook Architects.
Extensive research was undertaken by the project team to ensure the repairs and materials proposed were sympathetic to the historic structure. Careful mortar analysis which included preparation of samples and the sourcing of the Blue Purbeck natural stone used for stone repairs was the key to the success of this project.
Our specialist in house detailing team took onsite measurements and rubbings to produce replica stonework to replace the failed stone. This stone went through our production works where our skilled masons traditionally hand carved the columns, column caps and arch stones.
The works were carried out within a short time frame period as the property is used throughout the year for weddings and private functions. As a company we are very flexible working with client’s agendas and often plan works in stages to ensure minimal disruption.
