Stone Supply & Sawing

Our stone specialists can advise on the right stone selection for optimum performance and aesthetic to match the client’s budget. We specialise in British and European stones and cut and carve all of our stonework from our state-of-the-art production facility in West Sussex using our primary saw, two secondary saws with CNC profiling and our CNC lathe for circular work. Much of our stonework is hand finished by our banker masons.

Sawing & Stone supply

Our production facility allows us to work not just our own stone but stone from all over the UK and some foreign Materials, we offer a trade service to our partners in the stone industry, from Stone design services, DWG/ CAD drawings templating or just sawn six sides stone to fully carved architectural masonry depending on your requirements. We stock a large range of limestones and sandstones including Portland, Bath, Chicksgrove, Caen, several French limestones & Marbles , York stone, Wealden stone and Fittleworth sandstones. Our stone supply includes the following:

Wealden Sandstone

We are proud to be the only suppliers of Wealden sandstone which we quarry inhouse from the Hook quarry which is owned by the Buckley family in the small village of West Hoathly. The quarry closed its doors back in 1975 but has recently reopened its operations since 2014 and has been recently tested by the BRE for up to date statistics. The warm, honey coloured stone can be seen on many properties across Sussex and Kent. It is also routinely used for the repair of stately homes, churches and listed buildings. We supply Wealden sandstone sawn six sides and shaped at our production facility. The stone can be used for the following applications:

  • Split faced walling
  • Pitched face walling
  • Architectural masonry for external and internal use
  • Rubble stone work

Fittleworth Lower Green Sandstone

Traditional Stone are proud to support British sandstones and our the only company to use Fittleworth lower green sandstone which has been quarried in Sussex for many centuries. The quarry is located in the heart of Sussex a stones through away from our production facilities. The Stone has a Green to buff colour and is still used extensively on Manor houses to farm buildings and walls throughout the Sussex regions.

Caen Stone

Traditional Stone are proud to be partners with France Pierre  who quarry Caen stone in northern western France near Caen as there UK supplier of this stone . This stone has been used for centuries in England especially in the southeast regions and can be seen on Canterbury Cathedral, the Palace of Westminster and Norwich Castle to Chichester Cathedral amongst others. The stone is a light creamy yellow in colour and can be used for external masonry and carving such as intricate tracery windows, cornice and weathering’s and ashlar walling stone.
